V. Dolan Trucking got its start in 1953 when Jim Brandal and his girlfriend Verla Dolan decided to start a hauling company. One bought a truck and the other bought a license. When Verla went to the county to fill out the required paperwork, they asked for a name. Since Verla was the only owner available to sign the paperwork, V. Dolan Trucking was born.
Today, V. Dolan Trucking has entered its third generation for the family business started by Jim Brandal and his life partner Verla Dolan. Jim’s son Tom Brandal, who began his work with the company in 1969 as a driver, is now President of V. Dolan. Tom’s daughter Kim, who started her career with the company in 1986 working in the office, is the company controller.
Kim's husband, Erik Fowler, started with the company as a driver in 1993 and after working his way through driving, dispatching, and estimating, is now the company’s Vice President. Erik & Kim see the succession clearly as the two have begun a planned buyout program that will keep the company in the family.
